Plymouth Hosts Parade Welcoming Commando's Home

Squires Guest House in Plymouth is pleased to provide details of the forthcoming Parade to welcome home 3 Commando Brigade marking the end of the Brigade's final deployment to Afghanistan on Friday 11th November.


A huge parade is planned around the Hoe and City Centre with hundreds of troops and thousands of supporters expected to turn out to ensure a warm welcome home.

There will be a medal ceremony on the Hoe at 9.55am followed by a short Remembrance Service at 10.50am including a gun salute and a two minute silence at 11am .The Lord Mayor Councillor Peter Brookshaw will then give a welcome home speech to the troops after which the Parade will Begin.

The 10 America’s Cup Teams heading to Plymouth in September

The field of international competitors who will race in Plymouth as part of the America’s Cup World Series have revealed their game plans for winning the prestigious trophy.
Teams representing China, France (with two teams), Italy, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Sweden and USA were unveiled ahead of the inaugural America’s Cup World Series in Cascais, Portugal in August. The second stop on the circuit is Plymouth from 10 to 18 September, which will see the trophy on home soil for the first time in its 160 year history.
The City Council announced its role as a host city in April 2011 and has since been gearing up for what promises to be a truly sensational international event, where the eyes of the world will be firmly upon Plymouth.

Plymouth National Marine Aquarium

The Aquarium experience comprises a total of 50 live exhibits including three massive tanks, the largest of which – Britain’s deepest tank – holds 2.5 million litres of water. Over 4000 animals from 400 species are displayed in realistic habitats from local shorelines to coral reefs. In addition a new aquarium zone, Explorocean, focuses on ocean exploration and sustainability through innovative, interactive exhibits.
